1020: David Arthur Kendall

David Arthur Kendall is the Director of Advocacy at Parents’ Rights Maine. He is incredibly active and platformed by Maine legislators, the hate group Moms for Liberty, and many anti-trans hate organizations. He has testified to the legislature at the invitation of lawmakers. He is featured in an anti-trans documentary, “Affirmation Generation.” He is a convicted child molester.

I looked up Parents’ Rights Maine at the Maine Secretary of State’s site. It is a registered corporation in good standing, so it’s very unlikely a hoax.

“Please let these children know it’s OK to be gay,” Kendall said. “They don’t have to run into the arms of a rainbow movement that is bound to destroy them, body and soul.” he said. He says a lot of things, including claiming he was a transgender prostitute, that he got “full-blown AIDS” at 14 but has been miraculously cured by God. He also claimed he purposely infected people with HIV.

In 1998, he was convicted for lewdly fondling or assaulting, committing of simulating sexual acts on or in presence of a child under sixteen in and indecent manner. He served 22 days in jail.

This man has been a spokesperson and director for multiple anti-trans organizations. He has written a couple books. You will note he leaves off his surname most of the time to evade scrutiny. A Twitter user called Mooncat has done a massive thread about him and his anti-trans advocacy. You can read it more easily at ThreadReader though it’s incomplete.

David Arthur Kendall is on Twitter and incites violence. Though if they didn’t protect anti-trans hatemongers, this would violate TOS.

893: Andrew Hazelton

Andrew Hazelton is a neo-Nazi, a January 6th insurrectionists, and a member of the National Socialist Club. He is also the son of a local Westford, ME, politician

In 2021, his employer called the police concerned that he might shoot up his workplace as the employer was planning to fire him. They sought a search warrant and found child sex abuse material on his phone. He was arrested for possessing CSAM.

This was his second incident. In 2019, the parents of 10-year-old girl reported that Hazelton had sought sexual picture from her and told her he wanted to have sex with her. The police took screenshots of the conversation, but did not prosecute.

However, when they applied for a search warrant they referenced the 2019 incident. He pleaded guilty to one charge and was sentenced to five years.

876: Matthew Foster

Matthew Foster was the District Attorney for Washington and Hancock counties in Maine. A Republican, he was defeated in his run for a third term in October 2022 perhaps because he was caught in a life during a candidate forum. He was asked if he had been investigated by Maine’s attorney general’s office and he said no, but he was investigated in 2017 and 2018.

However, a woman who claimed he sexually abused her when she was thirteen while she and her mother lived with him while her mother was his client came forward to point out that she reported the allegations and he was investigated. He said he passed two lie detector tests, which as you know, is so persuasive with district attorneys in other cases. The investigators told the woman they believed her and reporters discovered she has told several people since 2017 with a consistent description of what happened.

She still wants her day in court. So does Jaime Bailey who alleged Foster would not prosecute the man who abused her because he wasn’t a teacher so did not fit Foster’s agenda.

John Hiatt was a member of the Maine State Republican Committee. He also was elected the Penobscot County Treasurer and was also elected to serve on the Bangor School Committee. In 2020, he won the Republican primary for District 9 in the Maine Senate, but withdrew before the election.

In 2021, he was arrested for one count each of aggravated invasion of computer privacy, stalking, and theft by unauthorized taking as well as two counts of harassment. He was using a device issued to him by the school district. This arrest led to a second as they found child sexual exploitation material with children under twelve on his phone.

In December, 2022, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor harassment and theft charges. The D.A. said, “What happened here is that Mr. Hiatt became too aggressive towards an individual that he knew. He was using a phone to harass her.” The judge sentenced him to ten days and $750. He served out his term at County Treasurer and will begin serving his sentence in early 2023 through an alternative sentencing program.

349: Erick Bennett

Erick Bennett challenged Susan Collins in the GOP primary in Maine, hoping to replace her in the U.S. Senate. He was convicted of domestic violence after attacking his wife in 2003. He also thinks that is a reason to vote for him. He claims his wife set him up and that he has been jailed for refusing to admit to something he didn’t do. This, he claims, is proof of how much integrity he has. His defense was she tripped over her own feet and fell against him. He was convicted, appealed and appealed and lost and lost.

343: David Sorenson

David Sorenson was a Trump Administration speechwriter. Previously he worked for Maine Governor LePage. He was forced to resign when his ex-wife Jessica Corbett came forward with allegations of emotional and physical abuse.

Corbett first contacted The Post a week before Porter’s case became public. She said that during her marriage to Sorensen, he ran a car over her foot, put out a cigarette on her hand, threw her into a wall and grasped her menacingly by her hair while they were alone on their boat in remote waters off Maine’s coast, an incident she said left her fearing for her life. During part of their marriage, he was a top policy adviser to Republican Maine Gov. Paul LePage.

Sorenson denies all the allegations and claimed she abused him. He’s sued her for defamation.

330: Seth Carey

Seth Carey is a Maine Republican. He ran for DA for Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties after a judge found that he had made unwanted sexual advances three times to a woman living in his home. He had lost his license so would be not allowed to actually practice the job he was running for. Despite these facts, he won the Republican primary though he lost in the 2018 General Election though he won 42% of the vote even though he was facing criminal charges and not allowed to practice law.

He took up raising hemp in 2019.

In 2021, he was indicted for those sexual assaults. He’s running again. He still has no law license. He appealed in April 2022. He lost.
