David Templet was a police officer in Latta, South Carolina, until his resignation after criminal charges were filed accusing him of sexually abusing an eleven-year-old child.
He was charged with charged with two counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and exhibiting harmful performance to minors. Among the specific allegations, he was accused of rubbing himself against a child and masturbating in front of two underage children.
The Latta police department suspended him when informed of the investigation. He resigned after charges were filed. The case will be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s office as the D.A. in Dillon County had declined to prosecute. He asked for that accomodation, noting that there is likely more evidence.
